There is much to learn from music.
All of us tend to get drawn to a specific type of musical instrument. In Indian (Hindustani) music, it could be the vocal chords (singing), or the Harmonium, the Tabla (percussion) or the Taal (cymbals).
While we may like everything, there will normally be one instrument that a person will be especially drawn towards. And when I say "drawn towards", it does not necessarily mean that he/she actually plays it - it could also mean that he/she pays special emphasis to this instrument while listening to a piece of music.
I believe that the type of instrument that you are drawn towards reveals your personality. And happiest are those who are in careers/positions that match their musical talent.
Do you know what is your musical instrument? If you don't know, then it is likely that you are not sure about your own strengths in your work place - probaly you are yet to discover yourself. And if you are not in a role suiting your musical instrument, then probably you are not very satisfied in your current role.

Hi Ram, looking at your last line i am tempted to assume that you are satisfied with your current role. :)
Nice to read this post.. after a long time...
Hi Ram,
I must say...typical Qual associations :)
The Chinese zodiac is interesting...every person has resembling traits of an animal...and may even look like one when observed with a 'different' eye...Oops..I'm a rat there ??
As for musical instruments...I am curious to know which one I am according to you :)
My thinking on this topic is that there are two main things for music. The HEART or SOUL,represented by emotion or bhakthi and then there is this BODY,represented by rhythm or dance. bhakthi which flows through instruments such as the harmonium, violin, veena, sitar, sarangi, santoor or the guitar to name a few and rhythm flows through taal or the dholak, the tabla, the mridungam or even simple clapping. So one musical instrument, could be imagined for the heart and the other for the body and music happens when both these combine to produce that mystic ambience.
So, here is your question framed differently. Are you a man of emotion or a man of rhythm ?. Or are you a man of HEART or of the BODY.
Intellect, the third factor in music, happens when words come in. When the emotion generated by words coincide with the mood of the raaga and the mood generated by taala and also the tone and expression of the singer; then magic happens.
A slow rhythm and lower tones of the singer bring in the emotion of sadness. Whereas, higher tones and faster rhythm bring in the mood of joy, happiness or celebration.
nice to see your different version.. :) and curious to know my association with the instrument.!!
